Despite the temperatures being slightly frigid, the turn out for the first meeting of 09 was well attended.

Zone Chairman Hugh MacDonald and Regional Chairman Eric Tonsetic were presented banner patches by King Lion Roberts for their service to the district.
In a related matter, Lion Olayer was presented with first place in the Where's Eric" contest for his Christmas sighting. It was a certificate for a cold adult beverage at Sals. Unfortunately, the meeting went a little long and the gift certificate expired before the meeting was over. Lion MacDonald claimed second place for a 15 minute phone conversation with Lion Eric. He received a can of Mexican beer left behind by an "undocumented American" passing through Chippewa (with Lion Sir in hot pursuit!!!!!)
Lion Livengood started to deliver the new club hats, T-shirts, and polo shirts at the meeting. They will be available at the February meetings. After that, a surcharge, a handling charge, a storage charge, and the dreaded Lion Dave charge will be applied. So to avoid an increase in prices, pick up your order ASAP!
Treasurer's Report: Activity $5,559.02 Administrative $1,283.58
Committee reports:
Lions Lamey and Lion Miller report the Christmas Party was a hugh success. The food was good, the service great and the company interesting. The club is already looking forward in anticipation to the 2009 Christmas party. Thank you ladies for such an outstanding function. (By the way, your nominations, vote, and appointment as next years party chairmen were recorded and entered into the permanent minutes by the secretary.)
Lion Olayer made his final and definitive report on the Christmas tree sale. He expected a profit of $3,080, but after all trees were sold a final profit of $2,791 was made or in other words we suffered a midnight tree migration loss of $289. Again this year, we had more than 20 trees leave the lot unfunded.
Lion Turner and Lion Platz have started to prepare the seals for mailing. Permits have been secured, printing has been taken care of, now the stuffing of the envelopes and the mailing has to be finished. Let's hope this is a good year for people mailing in their donations.
ZC MacDonald reported on the drug poster contest at BIS. It is now part of the art curriculum, so every student will be making a poster, then the number of entries will be reduced to 10 per homeroom, then final judging of one winner per homeroom will be done and district entry will be decided. ZC MacDonald will be announcing when the judging of the posters will take place.
The collection for the 500 Club (the old 365 Club) to benefit Beacon Lodge is on going. If you haven't made your contribution, do it soon We have been a 100% club for 10 years, it's not time to slack off now!
Our annual Blind Party will be Saturday, March 14th at the Lighthouse in New Brighton. Setup will be at 6:00 PM. Clear some time on your calendar and come enjoy the night. We hope Lion Dick Lamey will be there. He earned ALL PRO status with the hot dogs last year.
